Coil Nails for Crate Assembly: Match Nail Size to the Joint

Coil nails for wood crate assembly
Crate joint fastener detail
Collated coil nail size reference

Crate assembly uses several joints: board to cleat, side panel to base and reinforcement around an opening. A generic “crate nail” description leaves too much unresolved. The useful specification starts with the timber and the joint.

Map the wood first

Record board thickness, grain, edge distance, overlap and whether the wood is new or reclaimed. A nail that is suitable for a thick cleat may split a thin panel. State target penetration and whether the point may approach the opposite face.

Complete the coil specification

Include length, wire diameter, head, shank, point, finish, collation angle, coil direction and packing. The nailer model determines feed compatibility and magazine fit. Trial the exact coil in the intended tool rather than approving from a loose sample.

Review production handling

Check reload time, driven depth, head seating, split rate and carton protection. If crates move through damp storage or export handling, make the finish part of the purchase decision. FastenerNails can support a crate-line order with samples, bulk packing and tool compatibility fields.
